Princess Tiana

Tiana is a 19-year old waitress, who wants to become a big chef in her own restaurant. In earlier drafts of the story, Tiana was supposed to be a chambermaid at the La Bouff Mansion, but this storyline was canceled, because it would racial and stereotypical. She is the lead character in the movie and ultimately becomes the first black princess in Disney Animation history. Tiana is the daughter of Eudora and James, a black hardworking and loving couple and is best friends with Charlotte La Bouff from an early age onwards. Both Charlotte and Tiana are infatuated with Prince Naveen, when he arrives, but when he is transformed into a frog, Tiana has her doubts. In the early parts of the movie, Tiana as a little child is voiced by Elizabeth Dampier. During the largest part of the movie, the role of Tiana, as a young woman, is played by renowned actress, Anika Noni Rose
Prince Naveen

Played by Bruce Campoos, an early twenty-something gregarious, smooth-talking, and fun-loving prince who comes to the French Quarter for the Jazz scene and with whom Tiana and Charlotte fall in love. Due to being new in the city, he is persuaded by the shady Dr. Facilier into taking a tour of his office, which results in a curse transforming him into a frog. Suddenly his life becomes a lot more complicated and has to make a lot of efforts to convince Tiana to transform him back into human shape, only to find out that now both of them are facing the same fate. They are now destined to reverse the spells of Dr. Facilier, only to find out that they have fallen madly in love with each other. He was originally named “Harry.”
